Performance Nominations Include Helena Bonham Carter and Bob Hoskins
CANNES/MIPCOM, October 4, 2010 – Nominations for The 38th International Emmy® Awards were announced today by The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at a Press Conference at Mipcom. There are 39 nominees in 10 categories. The full list of Nominees follows this release. Winners will be announced at a Black-Tie Ceremony hosted by Actor/Director Jason Priestley, on November 22, 2010 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
Nominations span 15 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The competition took place with three rounds of judging over a period of 6 months, with participation from over 700 judges in 50 different countries.
Performance nominations include leading actors and actresses from Argentina- Leonardo Sbaraglia; Brazil-Lilia Cabral; Germany- Sebastien Koch & Iris Berben; The Philippines-Sid Lucero; The United Kingdom-Bob Hoskins & Helena Bonham Carter and South Africa-Lerato Moloisane.
“Every year, the global television community competes for an Emmy nomination and we congratulate the 2010 nominees for their outstanding achievements as their programs and performances enter into television history.” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
In addition to the presentation of the International Emmy® Awards for programming, the Academy will present two special awards. Lorne Michaels, who created Saturday Night Live and in so doing reinvented comedy on television and launched a generation of major film and TV stars, is set to receive the 2010 International Emmy® Directorate Award. American Idol Judge and Got Talent Executive Producer, Simon Cowell will receive the 2010 International Emmy® Founders Award.
This year’s partners are: Phoenix Satellite Television, TV Globo, Dori Media Group, Microsoft, Ernst & Young, Ascent Media, Reed MIDEM, Sofitel New York and Variety.
